How to Split PDFs and Extract Pages

Sometimes you need just one chapter from a 200-page textbook, a single invoice from a batch export, or the signature page from a legal agreement. Splitting a PDF lets you extract exactly the pages you need without having to share the entire document.

Our split tool runs entirely in your browser. Upload your PDF and a thumbnail of every page appears instantly. Select any combination of pages by clicking thumbnails or entering a range such as 1–5 or 8, 12, 15. There are no server uploads, no account requirements, and no file size limits imposed by a subscription tier.

Range selection: Type a page range like 1–10 to extract the first ten pages, or enter individual page numbers separated by commas. You can also click thumbnails directly to toggle selection on and off. The live preview updates as you build your selection so you can confirm the right pages before downloading.

Odd or even pages: Use the odd/even filter to separate duplex-printed documents or prepare alternating print-ready files. This is especially useful when scanning documents on a single-sided scanner—scan all odd pages first, then all even pages, and use this option to separate them before merging in the correct order.

Output options: Export your selected pages as a single new PDF or split each page into its own individual file. The batch download option is ideal for separating multi-page invoices or creating individual handout sheets from a presentation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a file size limit?

There is no server-side file size limit because all processing happens locally in your browser. Very large files (over 500 MB) may process more slowly depending on your device memory, but there is no hard cap imposed by our tool.

Will the output quality be affected?

No. Splitting a PDF only reorganizes the pages—it does not re-compress or re-render any images or text. The output quality is identical to the original pages you selected.

    Can I split a password-protected PDF?

You will need to remove the password first using our Protect PDF tool before splitting. Once the protection is removed, you can split or extract pages normally.

Is my document uploaded to any server?

No. Your PDF is processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. The file is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party service. Nothing is stored after you close the tab.

    Can I extract non-consecutive pages?

Yes. You can select any combination of pages, including non-consecutive ones. Use comma-separated values (e.g., 1, 4, 7, 12) or click individual thumbnails in the page picker to build a custom selection.
